Suns vs. Nuggets
Today I will be talking about how the Suns will match up against the Denver Nuggets. This is a very close matchup because of the depth on both teams and how both teams defenses will hold up.
First off, I think the Suns bench is better than the Nuggets. On paper the Nuggets have guys that probably could drop twenty points daily like Michael Porter Jr. and Bol Bol but they are just too inconsistent. For example, Bol Bol showed how he could contribute last year in the bubble but he has just been a major disappointment this year. Michael Porter has had a better year than Bol Bol, but that is not saying much. In order to beat the Suns, Bol Bol and MPJ will need to play with their full potential especially since Jamal Murray won’t be playing. The Suns are in an opposite situation where on paper, their bench does not look good. For example Cameron Payne does not have an amazing resume with multiple stints in the G league, but right now he is playing on another level. Game 4 of the Suns, Lakers series Cameron Payne won the game for the Suns in the fourth quarter. These two teams’ benches will be an interesting matchup.
Now let’s talk about defense. Neither team’s defenses are amazing as the best player on each team in Devin Booker and Nikola Jokic are often criticized for their defense. The reason both of these teams are seeded two and three in the first place is because of their offense, and definitely not because of their defense. I believe the Suns will win this series because of their defense. The Suns have been putting in the effort every possession they play and I think with Jamal Murray off the floor for the Nuggets a big leadership position is missing for the nuggets so they will struggle putting in the effort.
Those were my thoughts heading into the Suns, Nuggets series.
