Top 5 Best Point Guards of All Time!

Coming in at number five is the Big O, Oscar Robertson. Before there was Russell Westbrook, there was Oscar Robertson. Robertson got a triple-double nearly every game he played, and for good reason. He was a 6’5” guard in an era where the normal height for small forwards was 6’4”. He was one of the best scorers in the league and could rebound and pass the ball better than the guard before him. I believe that once Russell Westbrook retires, he will replace Robertson on this list, just because Robertsons competition was not on par with the current NBA competition.

Coming in at number four is Mr. State farm himself, Chris Paul. Although Chris Paul is one of the oldest players in the league, he has aged like fine wine. He doesn’t put up unbelievable stats, but he makes his team better. Players like this (similar to Jimmy Butler) usually get overlooked but luckily CP3 has not. It will be exciting to see if he decides to stay with the Suns, or joins a super team like the Lakers.

Coming in at number three is John Stockton. Stockton is truly the goat at passing a basketball. Although he could never win a championship, him and Karl Malone were the biggest threat to Jordan’s Bulls. Other than his passing ability, he did not contribute a whole lot to his team but all he needed to become an all-time great was his mesmerizing ability to pass a basketball.

Coming in at number to is Ervin “Magic” Johnson. Magic was truly before his time. In today’s NBA, tall point guards like Luka Doncic and Lamelo Ball thrive because of Magics’ example. Johnson was a 6’9” point guard with career averages of 19.5 points per game, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds per game. His career was cut short due to his HIV diagnosis, but his already great resume carried him to the second-best point guard of all time.

Coming in as the best point guard ever is Stephen Curry. Steph changed how basketball is played. Before Steph, it was all about giving the ball to your big man and letting them score in the paint. Post Steph, to be on an NBA roster you need to know how to shoot the Ball. Curry’s highlights are truly unfathomable which is why he lands number one on my list.
