Top 5 Best Power Forwards of All Time!
(Disclaimer: This list was made before the finish of the 2020-21 finals which significantly changes this list.)
Coming in at number five is Charles Barkley. Barkley is an MVP, 11-time all-star, 11 time All NBA selection, and hall of fame inductee. Barkley is most known for his performance during the 1992-93 season. He not only won the MVP that season but he was also considered by many the best player in the NBA, over Michael Jordan! When Charles and Michael Jordan teamed up on Team USA that same year, they did not disappoint. The one thing that held Barkley back (besides never winning a championship) was his last few seasons in the NBA. He always struggled with his weight, but those last few years were especially hard for Charles.
Coming in at number four is Kevin Garnet. KG was an MVP, 15-time all-star, 9 time all NBA selections, Defensive Player of the Year, and 12 time all defensive selections. Garnet was most famous for his intensity on the floor. Nobody wanted to play against him because he usually took trash talk a little too far, and played very tough defense. Before being traded to Boston, Garnet was the best on his team, at anything! That Timberwolves team he was on was one of the worst teams ever, and if he was not on that team they would have gone 0-82.
Coming in at number three is Karl Malone. Karl Malone was Michael Jordan’s nemesis, and for a good reason. Malones Jazz were the only team that could compete with jordans Bulls post-1995. Malone was a two-time MVP, 14-time all-star, 14 time All NBA selections, four-time all-defensive selections, and hall of fame inductee. All though Malone could never actually beat the Bulls, that Jazz team he was on is a top ten, if not a top-five team of all time (even though they never won a championship due to Jordan).
Coming in at number two is Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan was the best player on a Spurs team that won five championships in the modern era! His play might not be the most exciting or entertaining, but it did convert to wins. You might wonder how the best player on a team that won five championships isn’t the best player of all time in their position? Well, Duncan had a lot of help. He had Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili as teammates which took a lot of pressure off his shoulders.
Coming in as the best power forward of all time is German Jesus, Dirk Nowitzki. Although Dirk only has one ring, it is more impressive than all five of Duncan’s rings combined. Dirk was the only all-star and superstar player on the Mavs yet still beat a LaMarcus Aldridge Blazers team in six games, a Kobe led Lakers in four games, a Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook led Thunder in five games, and most impressively a Dwanye Wade and Lebron James led Heat in the finals.
