Top Five Picks In The 2021-2022 NBA Draft!
First off I want to say I am in no way certified as a NBA draft analyst, but that’s not stopping me from being a self proclaimed expert draft analyst. So with that being said, in this blog I will give my top five best players in this year’s draft class, and at the end I will say what order they will be drafted in.
My best rated player in this year’s draft is Cade Cunningham. Since his highschool highlights, I always thought of him as a Jason Tatum like player. His weakness and why some scouts are afraid of taking him on is his usage rate. During college he had the ball 29% of the time making his numbers just a bit inflated.
Next up is Jalen Green. I always thought that Jalen Green would be the number one pick in the draft with his Michael Jordan similarities, but that does not look like it is going to happen. Jalen Green is a freakish athlete that never disappoints in the case of highlight plays. He is similar to Cunningham in the fact that he does not have a lot of weaknesses, but Jalens one weakness could be a deal breaker for some teams. In both higschool and the G League, the only time you would see him score was in iso type plays, which just will not work in the NBA.
My third best rated athlete is Jalen Suggs. Jalen Suggs is probably the most well known player in this draft class with his unbelievable play in March Madness. He has the most complete, NBA ready play out of anybody in this draft class, so that might leave you wondering why isn’t he number one player on my list? Because he is too complete. He just does not have as big of a ceiling as the two other players ranked ahead of him.
My fourth best rated player in this year’s draft class is Jonathan Kuminga. Kuminga is what teams look for in a player, with an ideal body type (6’8”, 220 lbs) for the forward position and demonstrated that he can hit threes with ease. His weakness is the same weakness that
prevents Karl Anthony Towns from being a top NBA player, which is body language/confidence. Kuminga has all the talent in the world, but constantly walks with his head down and his desire to win even lower. This can be easy to fix with the right mentor, and if this is fixed he can for sure be the best in this year’s draft class.
Finally, my fifth best rated player is Scottie Barnes. Scottie has great size and is an excellent defender, and has the potential to be a small ball center with his 6’9” height. His weakness is his athleticism. He is not the highest jumper and lacks the mobility to guard guards.
